2014 Golden Horse Sprint
Be Free and Run Wild at South Africa’s Biggest Sprint Race Event
Feel the energy, experience the thrill, and Run Wild at South Africa’s oldest, biggest and richest sprint race event, the Golden Horse Sprint Race Day 2014. You will be blown away by dazzling fashion, exhilarating horseracing and pulse-raising entertainment. It’s all happening at Pietermaritzburg’s Scottsville Racecourse on Saturday the 24th of May.
With South Africa’s fastest sprinters competing and prize money of over R2-million, competition will be fierce. The stakes are always high in the two main sprint races; the Golden Horse Sprint, which this year carries a first prize bounty of R750 000, and the Tsogo Sun Medallion Race, which offers a prize of R600 000. In addition to being the largest sprint race event in South Africa, it is the only one to feature four Grade One sprint races.
A Glamorous Affair
As always, the Golden Horse Sprint Race Day will showcase outrageous designs by emerging and professional designers in the Fashion Design Competition. Designers and stylists are called to let their imaginations run wild and take their place in the spotlight.
The theme for this year’s Fashion Design Competition is “Glamorous Affair”. Designers are urged to step back to an era where dramatic, ground-sweeping dresses, regal gowns and the elegance of satin and lace were the order. There are five categories in the competition: Best Dressed Person; Most Glamorous Couple; Best Head Gear; Best Young Designer, and Avant-Garde. There is no limit to the number of categories designers can enter.
To register for entry to the competition, designers must arrive at Scottville Racecourse by no later than 09:00 on Saturday the 24th of May. They must meet at the fashion stage area to register and be briefed. Preliminary judging will commence at 09:30.
