Visit Port Elizabeth
The gateway to the Eastern Cape and the Garden Route, this city is affectionately known as the Friendly City. This city is welcoming and fun all year round. The buildings throughout the city boast architecture from every era; from Victorian, to art nouveau, to art deco and contemporary.
Its own history is very significant as it played a pivotal role in South African history. This city was the centre of the anti-apartheid movement. The Eastern Cape is home to the man who too played a crucial role in this movement – Nelson Mandela. As an act of gratitude for his fight, the district that Port Elizabeth is part of has been named Nelson Mandela Bay.
Port Elizabeth is a popular holiday destination, as it offers a wide range of activities both in the city and in the nearby surrounds. Beautiful beaches, the warm ocean, plenty of sunshine and lots of inner city amenities from shopping and entertainment to wining and dining - there is always something to keep you occupied in PE.
